Pathaan Movie Review: A fun international spy thriller that is clumsy, disorganized, and absurd

Pathaan story:

By presenting the genesis story of Pathaan (Shah Rukh Khan), an ex-army man turned clandestine spy, and his arch adversary, Jim, the movie widens the Yrf espionage universe (formerly led by Hrithik Roshan's Kabir and Salman Khan's Tiger), which was previously represented by Tiger and Kabir (John Abraham).

Pathaan Review:

The movie tells the story of Pathaan, a former soldier who became a clandestine spy, and Jim, his most formidable foe in the espionage community of Yrf, which was formerly headed by Tiger and Kabir, played by Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan, respectively (John Abraham).

A grandiose action thriller that plays to the crowd and lives up to expectations, Pathaan is Shah Rukh Khan's long-awaited return to the big screen. Pathaan has a fanciful premise, but it also has a lot of talent and a gorgeous aesthetic. At first, it reminds you of a filmy Mountain Dew commercial, but it gradually finds its own.

A Pakistani official wants India to pay for deleting Article 370, which accords Jammu and Kashmir special status, as restitution for this "mistake." Jim, a former RAW agent who has faced discrimination from his people, approaches him. He has with him his lovely buddy Rubai, a former ISI agent with hazy goals (Deepika Padukone). A deadly game of betrayal and retribution is played across continents by Pathaan, Jim, and Rubai. To safeguard and destroy their respective planets, the three compete.

The filmmaker gives Siddharth Anand's spy thriller an absurd twist. He frames it more like a superhero story that calls for a significant leap of faith. Here, it is obvious that he is obsessed with and a die-hard fan of popular Hollywood blockbusters like the Marvel movies or the Mission Impossible series with Tom Cruise. Expect to see a wingsuit akin to the Falcon, exaggerated chase scenes, Life-threatening stunts on bikes, cars, ice, and helicopters are featured, along with immortal heroes and villains who mouth clever dialogue, a femme fatale, and everything that is saturated in patriotism.

SRK is generally known for romantic or conversational parts, hence the film's emphasis on action over emotion is unique for him. He is a full-fledged action hero at 57, letting his physique and incredibly expressive eyes speak for himself. His presence elevates a drab story and subpar VFX. Even though the background soundtrack isn't entirely in tune with the events, Vishal & Shekhar's music is successful in communicating the daring and confidence on exhibit. John Abraham's superb portrayal of Jim is Pathaan's most notable feature.

John is a great example of a hero who is largely overshadowed by the villain due to the hero's stunts or the villain's Bane-like entrance. Deepika Padukone is a badass and a perfect choice for the role of the passionate, underwritten character. It doesn't have John-character zeal. Dimple Kapadia, played by SRK, pulls a Tenet and gives the proceedings much-needed seriousness and emotional weight. You wish other characters exuded the same level of sincerity as she does.

She is a crossing, morally dubious leggy spy, yet there is an obvious spark between her and SRK. Karan and Arjun (wink wink) make a cameo when Bhai confronts Badshah in the YRF espionage world and there is a famous whistle scene. With a slow-motion entrance and a classic good-against-evil confrontation, Pathaan has all the makings of a masala potboiler, most notably a sexy Shah Rukh Khan who can uphold principles both on and off-screen. He continues to be the King without a doubt.
